What is Critical Literacy? Critical Literacy is when you think critically about how the text was made and set out and also the point the text is trying to get across to the viewer.
What did you learn during Critical Literacy? I learned that if you apply Critical Literacy to your text you can have a better understanding on what the text is about. You can also see the different ways other people can view the text.
What did you find challenging during Critical Literacy? Having to think deeper in to what the text was actually trying to portray to us.
How will you use Critical Literacy skills in real life? I will use Critical Literacy to think more about what I am reading or watching.
What are you looking forward to in English this year? The thing I am looking forward to most is doing is both book & movie studies as I prefer them both over things like creative writing.

Critical Questioning Matrix
This is my Critical Questioning Matrix I have been working on in English:
The Hare & the Tortoise:
Who is the most likely audience of this text and why? kids who parents read this fable to them because it is more likely to get across to the kid if it is in a story and not just getting told.
How are the characters constructed in this text? The hare is portrayed as full of himself and very confident. The Tortoise is seen as hard working and patience.
Who benefits from this text? everyone who learns a lesson from this text
What does the author want us to know? The author wants us to realize that we shouldn't be so cocky and full of ourselves and that sometimes slow and steady wins the race.
Maccas:
What does this image suggest? the image suggest that there is probably more people, like the actor, that haven't been shopping in weeks and that are hungry.
What does the author want us to know? That maccas has a dollar menu and you should buy off them
How does the text construct a version of reality? The text constructs a version of reality as they tried to make it relate to other people as much as possible by making the add be in a situation that loads of people have been in.
What is the text about? How do we know? The text is about a person who hasn't got food at home going to maccas and getting a cheap meal. We know this because the film shows us
Gods Plan - Drake:
What does the author want us to know? That people should be more generous and give more to people in need.
How does the text construct a version of reality? That not everyone in the world has money.
Who is the most likely audience of this text and why? The most likely viewers are drake fans.
What different interpretations of the text is possible? Some viewers could see him as kind and giving some could see the video as if he just gave the money for the video

English - Critical Literacy Crash Course
In English we have been lea
What makes this video convincing? The fact that it is set out like a actual news room place and the way that they interviewed everyone to make it believable
In English we have been doing critical literacy. One thing I have learned so far is that Critical Literacy can be found in just about anything. One of the task was to watch a video and answer some questions. Here is my work
Who Published this video? A YouTube channel call The Onion
How are teens portrayed in this clip? Teens are portrayed like all they do is sit on there devices and not actually do something productive
Why has the director cast them in this way? To make it seem more realistic
In whose interest is this text? Parents who are worried that their child is spending to much time in front of a screen
Who is real in this text? I am not sure
What social realities does this text portray? Teens are spending to much time on the devices and it could damage their brains.

English - Language Features
In English we are doing creative writing. One of task were to chose a word from a list of different language features and then use picktochart to make a poster that includes the definition of our language feature and also an example. The word I chose was personification. Here is my work:
Human Rights
In Social Studies we have been learning about human rights. Our first task was to create a poster with all the human rights on it. One thing I have learnt about human rights so far is that it is not compulsory to follow the human rights, although many countries do try to follow them. Here is me and Stacey's poster on human rights:

Art - Shading
One of my options in school is art. in art we have started off by shading and shadowing. I think that I have improved with my shading as I have focused more on blending the shades together to get a greater affect overall. Using a structure can help you draw better because it helps with the layout of your artwork and it also helps the people who look at your art understand the art more. Moving forward I am going to practise my shadowing as I am not very good at in shadowing and I could improve. Below is a picture of my art. I personally think that I could have done a better job with the cylinder as it is kinda tilted and not as structured as my other drawings.

Arthritis
In science we have mean doing the topic medical science. one of the things we have been learning about is Arthritis. This is what I have learnt:
Arthritis is a disease or pain caused to the joints. Arthritis is when your cartilage wears away meaning that your bones end up rubbing together. The name Arthritis comes from the Greek word arthro meaning joint and itits meaning inflammation.
There are over 100 different types of arthritis but two of the most common ones are Osteoarthritis and Rheumatoid. Osteoarthritis is caused when your cartilage break causing your joints to be painful, swelling and stiffness. Rheumatoid arthritis is most commonly developed in your hands and wrist. Rheumatoid arthritis is caused when your immune system attacks your healthy tissue instead of your unhealthy tissue leading to sore and swollen joints. There are many more types of arthritis such as psoriatic, fibromyalgia and gout arthritis
You can develop arthritis at any age in your life and you don't necessarily just get it when your older. Some activities/things can actually increase your chances of developing Arthritis. Activities include things like having an infection, fractured bones, lack of exercise, over using joints and obesity. Although these things can contribute to your chances of getting arthritis it does not mean you will develop it.
There are many myths about arthritis. here are some of them:
There is only one type of arthritis - this is not true as there are over 100 types of arthritis
Only older people develop arthritis - nearly 3 out of every 5 arthritis sufferers are under the age of 65
Rain and damp weather worsens arthritis - there is no scientific evidence proving this is true
"Nightshade" veges are dietary cures for arthritis - changing diets doesn't affect arthritis
Here are some picture of gross arthritis cases (blame Mr Heath)
